In Far Cry 3, the main character is a young man named Jason Brody. Jason along with his older brother Grant and younger brother Riley, join some friends for a vacation of Rook Island. Shortly before their arrival, they are captured by pirates. |

In Far Cry 2, the main character begins the game as a mercenary, who is sent by an unknown organization to an unnamed African country to assassinate an infamous arms dealer, The Jackal. |
| Additions | Far Cry 3 builds on the additions of the second game in the series, by adding over 20 species of majestic and untamed animals within the wilderness. The game includes an expansive environment of jungles with various types of vehicles used to get around. The skill system is based around creating a special tattoo called the Tatau, and as Jason progresses through the game, his tattoo will grow large along his arm. |

Far Cry 2 is different from the first game in the series, by offering a sandbox of more than 50 km² (19 square miles) of accessible land. The player is able to ally with two different factions, the APR or UFLL, resulting in a non-linear experience. The game features a day and night cycle with different weather conditions to go along with the different environmental climates. Enemies are only human mercenaries. |
| Villain | There are two key villains in the game, Vaas Montenegro and Hoyt Volker. Vaas is the main antagonist of the north island and the one responsible for kidnapping Jason, his friends, and killing his older brother. Vaas has lost his mind and is shown as being violent, unpredictable, and addicted to drugs. He works for Hoyt Volker, the main antagonist of the south island. Hoyt is a kingpin in the drug and human trafficking trade and is immensely ruthless. |

The Jackal is the notorious arms dealer and the main villain in Far Cry 3. He’s been selling his weapons to various countries within Africa. He has a history of being in the United States Navy. The player is tasked with locating him and assassinating him. The Jackal’s weapons support both the APR and UFLL factions. |
| Missions | Far Cry 3 has a variety of mission types. Besides the Story Missions, there are Wanted Dead, Supply Drop, and Mark of the Hunter quests. Wanted Dead are essentially assassination missions. Supply Drop involves driving from checkpoint to checkpoint before time runs out, and Mark of the Hunter involves killing the different types of wildlife with a specific weapon. |

Far Cry 2 has different types of missions. These are obtained through various sources and bring different rewards. Besides the Story missions that advance the plot, there are Faction missions given to you by warlords or leaders of the two factions. Weapon Shop Missions given to you by venders that involve sabotaging their competition, and Assassinations, which require you to eliminate selected targets. |
| Game Features | Far Cry 3 features a day/night and weather system for the islands. The wildlife that have been added and can interact with patrolling enemies. Jason can use the wildlife found throughout the island to craft different equipment, which allow for more ammunition, weapons, and more. There are three different types of collectables, known as Lost Letters, Relics, and Memory Cards that can help unlock other cool additions. |

Far Cry 2 has many features of realism, which weapons degrade over time. There is a dynamic weather system. The player needs to hold a physical Map and GPS in order to help navigate around the environment. The game’s Dunia Engine allows for complex sequences and run-events. The vegetation has it’s own regeneration cycle, as well as a unique fire propagation system which allows for dynamic spreading of flames, depending on environmental factors. |

Different types of handguns, submachine guns. assault rifles, sniper rifles, and light machine guns can be used. These guns support a variety of different attachments. The play can also use a bow, grenade launchers, flare guns, etc. There are also special weapons called Signature Weapons that are altered varieties of existing weapons. |
