Royal Guard Charger: These enemies wield the BZ19 sub machine gun, allowing them to fight from a greater distance than Royal Army Berserkers. They are still just as aggressive though, and will charge the player without seeking cover. They and their snow variant are the only type of enemy with submachine gun as primary weapon in Kyrat. Like Royal Army Berserkers, they should be taken out before they can reach close range.

A charger can dodge some gunfire with combat rolls and will rush the player by throwing a smoke grenade to hide his movements. They also use D50 while on vehicles, which deals significantly more damages than 1911 used by Royal Army. Unlike the Royal Army Berserkers (their lower-tier counterparts), they are very common, nearly as much so as Royal Guard Assaulters and Royal Guard Defenders, especially in outposts and fortresses, after the player has chosen to allow for the alarm to be raised. Rather than do one big hit of massive damage (like berserkers do), they instead quickly chip away at the player's health. Aside from throwing smoke grenades they will also occasionally roll to the side in order to avoid gunfire, though not when charging directly at the player.

Trivia[]

  • It seems that the Chargers' teeth are rather rotten, possibly implying that they don't care about their health.
  • Despite being similar, they operate little different from Privateer chargers, the Guard is more tactical and avoids counterattacks, like the Army Berserkers, they use smoke grenades as cover for a position change (combat roll).
  • In the intro of Far Cry 4, the group of soldiers (commanded by the soldier who got stabbed by Pagan Min) are actually the early design of Royal Guard Chargers. Being in the cutscene (as you can not control Ajay) the soldiers are not changed to the same final uniform design. This causes them to be nicknamed E3 Assaulter (By modding community) and Border Guard (by regular players).
  • Their red uniforms and grey berets may have been inspired by China local militia in Tibet.
  • It remains unknown who is the Yalung-worshiping serial killer called "The Goat" that left behind Masks of Yalung, main suspects include 2 Citizens of Kyrat, the radical monk Dhami, and a Royal Guard Charger in The Goat's Lair.
