Sniper: Soldiers armed with SVDs, who prefer to fight at a distance. They are usually located on the roofs of buildings or on some sort of elevated terrain to give them an advantage. It is advised to take out Snipers first when attacking an Outpost/Fortress, as their ability to see further than regular troopers makes them dangerous. Like the Royal Army RPG Shooters, Snipers have powerful weaponry, but take time to aim and line up their shots. A red laser sight on the sniper's weapon reveals their location, allowing the player to locate them, and know what areas to avoid to stay undetected. They only open fire when their red laser light reached the target, so remember always avoiding their red laser light in order to survive. Getting to cover is the best course of action when fighting them, but running fast and erratically can help as well. Again, like the RPG Shooters, they will switch to A2000 submachine gun if encountered at close range. While on vehicles, they can perform drive by shooting using their A2000, which is more dangerous than 1911 and D50 from other types of soldiers. They are only active in southern Kyrat, in the north their role is fulfilled by the far deadlier Royal Guard Sniper.

Trivia

• They have an elite variant, the Royal Army Sniper Courier, who has to be killed and the player have to take his documents. They have red camo instead of Urban Camo.
• In trailers for Far Cry 4, there was a Royal Army Sniper riding an elephant and Ajay used a vehicle takedown same as if he was on a Quad Bike.
