Mike's Bar is a location in Far Cry 2. This establishment which is known to serve alcoholic beverages appears to be defunct since no bartender is ever seen, but is still frequented by some people. Before the war, it was presumably a popular hangout spot for the people of Pala.

Location[]

It is situated on the edge of a bay located in the Leboa-Sako district south of Pala.

The road from Pala leads through a small pool that surrounds a boulder and a tree, which makes for a rough drive. Fortunately, a wooden ramp has been set up to alleviate this problem. When going in the opposite direction, however, the player can usually fit his vehicle through a narrow passage to the right of the tree.

Layout[]

In addition to the bar itself, there is also a Weapon Shop and an Armoury to the south-east of the bar, a wooden pier, a small corrugated metal shack containing a diamond case inside of it right next to the dock, and a large stone house with a health kit in it below the bar.

An Assault Truck and a Swamp Boat will always spawn here.

Role in-game[]

This is the main hangout spot of all of the buddies from Leboa-Sako. They will appear here once they are met for the first time, usually rescued, at various locations. This is also where they all "die" at the Act 1 finale. Reuben Oluwagembi is met here for the first time and from him the player receives the first Jackal tape.

Depending on how many buddies the player has rescued, there are anywhere from 2 to 12 buddy missions available at this location.

Towards the end of Act 1, the player learns from Reuben Oluwagembi that the faction that betrayed the player is planning to kill all the buddies (whom the faction has since declared "spies") and then massacre the people of Pala. The player is given the option of either going to Mike's Bar, helping the buddies hold out against the enemy faction, or going to the church in Pala, helping Father Maliya hide civilians in the back and defending it from the horde of mercenaries. Either way the buddies will go missing and the faction will always win, which in turn marks the beginning of Act 2.

Trivia[]

  • Text on the side of the bar mentions a basement being inside the building, but it is never actually seen in the game.
  • After the firefight at Mike's Bar at the end of Act 1, if the player fast-travels back to Pala and heads to the bar, he will find that he is still able to enter it. However, the door is still partially blocked by the fridge he helped move during the fight, resulting in a weird glitched animation where the player clips inside of it when entering or exiting the building.
  • Even though all the windows in the bar were completely destroyed during the firefight, they will be shown still barricaded with wooden planks if you travel back to the bar at the end of Act 1.
