The Jackhammer is a fully-automatic shotgun.
It has excellent stopping power at close range and a high rate of fire, with a magazine capacity of ten rounds. It is arguably the best weapon in the game for close quarters combat (though the P90 comes a close second), and is most effective against unarmoured enemies (such as Trigens). As you might expect, however, its effectiveness is limited to close range, it is not recommended for fighting out in the open. The Jackhammer is first found in the beginning of the level Bunker.

Being a weapon that never entered full-scale production with there only being two prototypes due to the company going bankrupted, as well as a weapon that the US Department of Defence would not grant export licenses to, it is unclear as to how the mercenaries on the island are able to obtain a large supply of the Jackhammer. It may be possible that the production rights for this weapon were bought for $350,000 and then manufactured on the island by the mercs themselves. Alternatively, Dr. Krieger used to work for the Department of Defense, so he may have gained access to the means of production in order to arm his mercenaries.
