Also, people have commented that the Shredder, Ripper and Cannon all have the same scopes. They do, sort of. However, you hold them at different distances from your "eye".
I measure with a ruler (yes, nerd alert), and here are the results.
1:39 - magnum. It takes up 58mm on my screen.
3:00 - shredder. It takes up 65mm (12% increase).
6:53 - ripper. It takes up a whopping 82mm (41%).
So, same scope, but it's closer to you, meaning a better effective zoom.
