« You’d think that right out the box, something called the Fazertron would fire something cool, like laser beams or Honey Badgers, but no. This assault rifle shoots plain old bullets until you upgrade it to shoot deadly beams. Now you’re thinking: “Fuck. I want it to fire Honey Badgers that have had their nuts flicked with a wet towel. Why’d you screw with my expectations like that?” Because. »

The Fazertron is an automatic assault rifle in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It is the primary weapon of both Scientists and Omega Force factions. Like the F1, it fires with five-round bursts from a standard 60-round magazine with the option of a full-auto upgrade. It has decent stopping power, and can kill a standard Omega Force Assaulter with 6 torso shots or 3 headshots. The laser rounds upgrade quadruples the damage done by each round, and can kill basic Omega Force soldiers with 2 body shots or 1 headshot, and can kill a Omega Force Heavy Gunner with just 22 to 24 body shots.

Among other upgrades are laser rounds, extended magazines with 120- and 180-round capacities, and an extended lightweight barrel.

Attachments are unlocked by completing Hostage Rescue and Predator's Path missions.

Trivia[]

  • The weapon is based on the Calico M960, albeit with the top-mounted magazine replaced with a curved magazine in the stock. It is a reference to the film Terminator 2: Judgement Day, in which future Terminators use a weapon called the Westinghouse M-27 Phased Plasma Pulse Rifle, the props for which were built from a Calico M960. Additionally, when upgraded with Laser Rounds, the Fazertron's fire is visually almost identical to the Phased Plasma Pulse Rifles in the movie.
  • The gun shares the same magazine model with the P416.
  • The version of the Fazertron used in the opening mission is different from the normal version used for the rest of the game. For example, even though it fires laser rounds, it does not benefit from the significant damage bonus that laser rounds normally give.
